STRATEGIES FOR THE PERIOD OF CHANGE. THE DYNAMICS OF KEY MARKETS AND THE PRIORITIES OF LEADING COMPANIES
The objective of the Summit's opening session is to identify the most promising strategies for further business development in Russia and the CIS countries based on benchmarking the dynamics in all key sectors (food products, clothing and footwear, household goods, electronic appliances, pharmaceuticals) and understanding the priorities set by the uncontested industry leaders.
Key questions for panel discussion participants:
  • Market dynamics and key consumption trends. How did your market capacity change during the six months of 2010? Which goods categories are reaching their historical peaks and which ones - their historical lows? How did the breakdown of key price segments change? What do you foresee for the pre-New Year sales in 2010?
  • Business strategies. Business diversification (key brand capitalization), expansion of the core business in the regions, M&A transactions, improvement of operational performance, logistics or your own distribution channels, franchise strengthening - which development directions have become your priorities and why?
  • Business partners. What are your priorities in working with suppliers and contractors? What mid-term goals are you setting for them? Do you focus on searching for new partners or increasing the effectiveness of cooperation with the existing ones? What supply management technologies will become standard next year (electronic ordering, tenders, joint planning of sales volumes and promotional events, factoring, other)?

Today, not a single sales channel in the global and national market is capable of competing with the internet in terms of market volume growth rate. This year, for the very first time, the Retail Business Russia Summit dedicates a separate section to this topic. There is no doubt that it was the economic crisis that provided a powerful incentive for the development of online retail. And now, as the crisis is ending, the opportunities it presents should not be left unexplored. The Online Retail Conference will focus on the comprehensive development of multichannel retailing (off and online retail stores, electronic trading, and applied solutions for integrated marketing, pricing, and logistics). One of the most expedient and specific discussion topics will be devoted to online payment systems, including obstacles to their development and promising technologies. The program will open with a summit plenary session, MULTICHANNEL RETAIL STRATEGIES IN RUSSIA, followed by two panel discussions.

MODERN LOGISTICS OF THE FLOW OF MONEY AND GOODS IN E-COMMERCE

The purpose of the session is to analyze the resources for improving the performance of the logistics component of e-commerce and of client payment systems. It is the 'last mile', namely the delivery of goods to the customer, along with problems related to paying for the goods, that is the key factor holding back the development of this market. It is between these two barriers a direct connection exists: the fear of not getting on-time delivery of the order or not getting it at all limits the amount of online purchases and encourages cash payment on delivery. The companies that come close to untying this Gordian knot will be the future of the Russian online market. Current best practices in this area will be brought to the attention of the summit's audience.
